Miss Ohio Wins GRAND JURY PRIZE at DANCES WITH FILMS in HOLLYWOOD!
MISS OHIO (A film by Gregory Fitzsimmons) which A.J. worked as Director of Photography for last fall has just won the Grand Jury Audience Award for Best Picture at the Dances With Films Festival in Hollywood California. In addition to this achievement, the film was given a glowing review in Variety Magazine. This marks the second positive review of a film A.J. has been Director of Photography on in the last 12 months. Please click the image above to read the Variety Review of Miss Ohio!
A.J. and his talented camera team were featured in an amazing two-page spread in February's edition of the nationally distributed DV Magazine!  Click the cover page to the right to view the article (Pages 14-15).  The article covers the two feature films A.J. lensed for cult comedy director Larry Blamire.  Both films The Lost Skeleton Returns Again (sequel to Sony Pictures' The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra) and Dark and Stormy Night premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival 2008 and the Palm Springs International Film Festival 2009 respectively.  The Lost Skeleton Returns Again was given a glowing review in Variety when it premiered in Mill Valley.

Leading horror/spoof entertainment website Fangoria.com has dropped an article about the Mill Valley Premiere ofThe Lost Skeleton Returns Again!  Check the link to the left for exclusive pics and a great article by Sean Decker.  There is a great shot of A.J. and director Larry Blamire standing next to the Magraclop!  
A.J. Rickert-Epstein recently worked closely with AFI Fest 2008 sponsors: The Post Group, Panavision, Wexler, Shining Technologies and Lightning Media while acting as video production coordinator for 2008's AFI FEST in Hollywood. His responsibilities included shooting and editing a wide variety of events throughout the festival as well as coordinating/supervising all of the team's video coverage for the red carpet events, film premiere Q&A's, and press junkets.  He also arranged some of the cast and crew interviews and provided oversight to make sure all of the highlight footage made it to the proper press outlets for broadcast.  Some highlights from this year's festival included the retirement of Joaquin Pheonix (Red Carpet interview was recorded by AFI FEST 2008's video production team) and a great interview with Mickey Rourke for the premiere of the Oscar Nominated film "The Wrestler".  Also, A.J. attended premieres, and shot the Q and A sessions for Danny Boyle's smash hit "Slumdog Millionaire" as well as "Truth in 24", a documentary about the Audi racing team narrated by Jason Statham.  Click the image to the right to read an interview with A.J. on the AFI FEST 2008 staff blog.

A.J. was interviewed via Satellite in New York recently by Fox News reporter Erin Meyer for a story on some of his life achievements.  They went to his hometown in Ohio, interviewed his family and borrowed some of his old movie clips from when he was a little kid to put together this 2min 30sec profile.  Click the image to the left to watch the News Clip. 
A.J.'s latest feature film "Fingerman: Dr. London and the Triangle Force" was given a glowing review at the visual effects website FXHOME.COM recently after A.J. gave them access to a festival screener of the film.  Subsequently, the website also interviewed A.J. about what he and his team were able to accomplish with the film.  Check out the links to the right to read the amazing review and the in-depth interview with A.J.

Interviews with Cinematographer A.J. A.J. was interviewed by Cincinnati Enquirer writer John Kiesewetter about his feature film Fingerman: Dr. London and the Triangle Force, it's premiere at the Oxford International Film Festival, and the story behind Fox using the teaser for Fingerman as a promo ad for Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett's reality TV series On The Lot, premiering on Fox in May 2007.  John wrote up a very nice piece about AJ and you can view it at the Cincinnati Link on the right.  The On The Lot Commercial that A.J.'s film Fingerman was used for can be viewed at the On The Lot link on the right as well.

While A.J. was a fresh graduate of Miami University living in Los Angeles, he returned home to help friend and fellow filmmaker Chris Cowan shoot his feature film Divinity.  Along the way he stopped in to the local TV show "Ox Box" to get interviewed about his past history at Miami University and also his future endeavors in LA.  Click the image to the right to view a brief clip of A.J.'s appearance on that show.

A.J. made an appearance with current M.A.F.I.A. president Stephen Murray on the National Public Radio show "The Forum" on WMUB out of Miami University on the topic of the Oxford International Film Festival.  You can listen to the entire hour long show by clicking on the image to the left.
APRIL 5th, 2007 PULSE JOURNAL ARTICLE
